COMMUNICATION TRENDS
According to a poll that appeared in USA Today last spring, more than half of the people surveyed said they expect wireless phones to access e-mail, use the GPS (Global Positioning System) to get directions, and browse the Internet. Others said they think cell phones will be used to take digital pictures and send them to family and friends, whereas 57 percent thought phones would be used to conduct videoconferences. It seems most everyone sees the need for mobile information. Industry analyst Herschel Stosteck predicts that 90 percent of mobile phones sold by 2003 will be Internet-enabled, compared with only 10 percent in 2000.
